Vision for Cagebirds Performance
1) How do you imagine the character distribution will work , or how do you see each of the class having a role to play? Explain.
In the previous lesson, we considered how various students could be focused on the physical theater while the others are more into the play. I presume that having those two categories displayed would make a great overall performance and the physical theatre students should be chosen by those who can show the most amount of emotion while being able to move their body, signaling and producing a good amount of feel and sentiment to it.
2) How do you envision the costumes we will use as a cast? Explain your ideas.
I think that every character should have their own colour representing various characteristics of their own. This is because since each character is stuck to their own world they all should have different meanings to their world. Although, the wild one is an exception and could have an eye catching costume, since in my opinion she is a mix of all the colours. The wild one is not just focused on her own thoughts but considers other and qualifies with some of them. In general each colour of the costume of each character could be equal to different meanings.
3) What role would you be interested in taking and why?
Personally, I would be interested in the role of ' The Wild One'. This is because, not only does she attempt to connect with the other 'prisoners' , but she fights for their help and aid and has chosen to not give up. This character to me is a strong, stubborn and level headed person who may at first seem rude and unpleasant but she is willing to give everything to help the others who are trapped in their own world when in her mind she believes they should explore the real concept of reality.
4) Do you think we should include physical theatre and movement sequences? If so, how?
I believe by including both physical theatre and movement sequences it effects and enhances a performance and helps the audience focus on the story-line of a performance. With the expression of choreographed movements, the audience will be drawn the performers and their gestures, body movement, facial movement etc. Overall in combination between the two, if added in a performance, not only does it help the audience improve their judgment and exploration of complex aspects of human relationships and social or cultural issues, the performers themselves benefit from it by trying to empathize towards others.
You have some interesting and thoughtful ideas here that demonstrate some creativity and you have described them in detail at times. I like your costume idea and I can see that you have a clear understanding of how all of these elements contribute to the communication with the audience. In order to get a higher grade you could have proposed some new ideas rather than discussing the value of what we had discussed already, and you could also consider including some images. 5/8 Criteria C
